GIN&TONIC
For the Gin & Tonic poster, I wanted to try something different from my usual style. I typically use vibrant colors and contrasting shades, but this time I chose blue as the main color for convenience. Though painting drinks isn't my expertise, my friend requested it, and I aimed to blend my artistic style with the unfamiliar subject. As I sketched, I discovered my passion for capturing moods through colors and imperfect lines, creating an overall atmosphere rather than solely focusing on the drink.
PICNIC
The artwork "Picnic" is inspired by my time with my grandparents in a rural village in Thailand. It depicts the simple pleasures of collecting rainwater, drying clothes, and enjoying meals on a handmade blanket. The fruit is freshly picked, and we buy beer from a local shop. "Picnic" captures the essence of rural life, with its fresh scents, colorful clothing, and unpretentious atmosphere. It portrays the special moments created by the simplicity of spreading a blanket on the ground.
TERRASSE
A holiday memory from a trip to Spain with my parents and family friend. We stayed in a small summer cottage belonging to my dad's friend's colleague. The house was located in a quiet residential neighborhood with charming white Spanish villas. One morning was spent on the cottage terrace, where I had just prepared lunch. It consisted of fresh tomato salad, olives, Spanish cheese, toasted bread, and a glass of water with a handpicked lemon from a tree in the garden.
MARKEN
In the summer of '22, I stayed with my grandparents in a rural village in Thailand. The village is known for its agricultural lifestyle, particularly rice cultivation. I spent time in the rice fields, witnessing the entire process from planting to harvest. The days were long, starting early in the morning and ending late in the evening. It involved working in flooded areas, sowing rice by hand, and taking care of animals. I have deep respect for the hard work behind a simple bag of rice. I painted "The Field" as a tribute to my Thai family and the laborious efforts of farmers.
FISKEREN
In December 2022, I visited my grandparents in Thailand. I helped with practical tasks and one morning went fishing with my aunt and uncle. We caught fish for lunch, and I rode back to the village on a motorcycle with the catch. My neighbor, my grandmother's niece, helped me prepare the fish by lighting a fire, boiling water, and grilling and steaming the fish. This experience made me appreciate the whole process from "field to plate" and the respect for the animal and nature. "The Fisherman" reminds me of these stories and the connection between the work and the food we eat.
SOMMERBORD
A summer table originates from a barbecue evening in August. My holiday memories are filled with warm colors. The scent of the grill being lit, my parents slightly disagreeing on when and what to grill, and the neighbor's cat. Things that don't go exactly as planned, and time flowing freely, which I've tried to illustrate with the blue and white checkered tablecloth and the chair almost popping out of the frame. Yet, it's just so simple and embodies coziness perfectly.
GADEHJØRNET
"Street Corner" takes inspiration from a small café not far from Nørreport Station. It was a summer evening, and the café had adorned itself with colorful lights. The pink road is a holiday memory from Lisbon, and the scent of lavender reminds me of summer in my grandmother's beautiful flower garden.
FORÅRSDAG
"Spring Day" is inspired by a bike ride through the city that ended with a visit to a café. I've tried to express the multitude of colors that fill Copenhagen when the flowers bloom and the trees turn green by painting the city rings in various light shades. The contrast between the simple village life in Thailand and the "Copenhagen life" is evident in the differences in details, such as the clouds and the tree, as well as the simplistic representation of a glass. All of this is done in the hope of creating a lightly uplifting picture.
FÆLLESSPISNING
"Community Dining" stems from a concept that is very essential in Thailand, especially in my village. Coming together around a meal, letting the food speak for itself, and enjoying it in community. Everyone shares across and everyone is welcome. This idea is combined with a holiday memory from Italy, which supports the warm color palette. The difference from the village is that in the composition, people actually gather around a table instead of sitting on top of it or on the floor as we do in the village. Once again, it is something as simple as food that binds us together.
ESPRESSO MARTINI
For the Espresso Martini poster, I decided to maintain my usual style of using various colors, fun combinations, and contrasting shades. However, I opted for a uniformly painted background to create a different effect. When my friend asked me to paint drink motifs, I took on the challenge even though it was outside my expertise. It was difficult to express something unfamiliar while staying true to my own artistic style. As I began sketching, I realized that capturing moods is what I enjoy most in my paintings. I use colors and slightly imperfect lines to convey experiences and atmospheres. In this case, I wanted to create an overall atmosphere around the drink rather than solely focusing on the beverage itself.
HJEM FRA MARKEN
In '22, I stayed with my grandparents in a rural village in Isaan, Thailand, known for agriculture. My painting "Homeward Journey" captures the return home from fields or errands. The village's transportation relies on motorcycles, passing by rice fields, palm trees, and occasional wildlife. I was inspired while riding my grandfather's motorcycle. Two people overtook me, laden with bags of fruit and food, likely returning from the market.
GRILLET FISK
During the summer of '22, I stayed with my grandparents in a rural village in Isaan, Thailand known for agriculture. We didn't shop at big supermarkets but enjoyed the outdoor markets for fresh produce and grilled food. One of my favorite stalls sold grilled fish, and the woman running it expertly cooked dozens of fish each evening. The markets offered a variety of choices, and we often bought grilled meat and fresh vegetables. It was a memorable experience amidst the aroma of delicious food.
NUDLER
I spent summer '22 with my grandparents in their rural village in Thailand's Isaan region. The area is known for agriculture, with small villages where people grow crops. Nearby is Bua Yai, a larger town with amenities like shops and restaurants. However, I still prefer the simple local street kitchens. "Noodles" captures the comforting feeling of enjoying rice noodle soup at one of these intimate spots. The artwork reminds me of childhood, my mother's cooking, and the vibrant atmosphere of sitting outdoors amidst passing motorcycles and people.
AFSLAPNING
In the summer of '22, I spent time with my grandparents in a rural village in the Isaan region of Thailand, known for its agricultural lifestyle. One particular spot we enjoyed was the outdoor area under my aunt's raised wooden house. Hammocks were tied to the pillars, creating a place for relaxation and observation. From there, we could interact with passersby, watch the activities of the village, and appreciate the changing sky and shadows. It was especially peaceful in the late afternoon when the village came alive again. I tried to capture the essence of finding tranquility amidst the simple beauty of everyday life in my painting "Relaxation." The combination of brushstrokes and vibrant colors invites closer inspection to discover hidden details.
MORFARS COMBO
During the summer of '22, I stayed with my grandparents in a small agricultural village in rural Isaan, northeastern Thailand. The artwork I painted was inspired by the outdoor living area under our old wooden house, where my grandparents spend most of their day. It's a simple space with low wooden tables, hammocks, and views of the neighboring houses and road. My grandparents contributed ideas for the painting, including my grandfather's favorite drink combination of beer and energy drink, along with his beloved durian fruit. My grandmother suggested adding powder and cream for mosquito bites. They found it amusing to see their everyday space from a different perspective.
FONTÆNEN
The fountain comes from a vacation memory. I was in Spain with two friends, staying at the coziest little hotel. We traveled in April, outside the tourist season, so we were the only guests in the entire hotel. The artwork reminds me of a long day of relaxation by the pool and the beautiful garden of the hotel.
DEN BLÅ CAFE
The Blue Cafe is a reminder of a wonderful day I had with my friend. It was a day when we had planned to just take a walk, but we passed by Pompette on Møllegade and couldn't resist a glass of wine. We ended up having a lot of delicious food there, including their amazing burrata. After that, we spontaneously went to the beach and took a swim. It was a fantastic day.
FRUGT & GRØNT
Fruits and Vegetables is inspired by the various greengrocers around Nørrebro and the city. I love stopping by one of them and smelling and looking at the different produce. It reminds me of the Saturday markets in Southern Europe or the markets in Thailand (ตลาด), which are always filled with fruits and vegetables. It makes me happy.
SØNDAG
Sunday is inspired by Nørrebrogade. Sunday mornings, when the city is completely quiet - there are hardly any cars or bicycles. Just a little birdsong, but mostly just pigeons. You look around and notice how green it has become, the trees have blossomed.
PIZZA
Pizza is inspired by Blaaregn Taverna and Kølster's Twelve Roosters on Rantzausgade. My friend and I were out for a walk and stumbled upon this place with beautiful blue benches and tables. We sat down and enjoyed a beer in the sun. It was lovely.
PASTAHJØRNE
Pastahjørne is inspired by a spring day on Griffenfeldsgade. One day, on my way home from school, I stopped and sat for a while in the good weather. I looked at the buildings and the people, but it was only for a few minutes. Later, I have returned several times to a small grassy area where one can enjoy the evening sun.
INDKØBSTUR
Indkøbstur is a shopping trip I had on my way home from Runddelen. I was cycling along Prinsesse Charlottes Gade on a somewhat gray and dull day. Then, I looked down into my bike basket with my colorful bag and suddenly found myself dreaming of warmer places. The scent of fresh basil and the pink tulips made me think of holiday memories from Italy and a picnic I once had.
FROKOST
Frokost is inspired by a late summer day around Sankt Pauls Gade and Borgergade. I was taking a long walk and suddenly found myself at a cozy cafe with the most beautiful hand-picked wildflower bouquet. The menu featured peel-and-eat shrimp and other delicious seafood.
BRUNCH I HAVEN
Brunch in the Garden is inspired by various memories. The lemon tree is from an old vacation memory in Spain. We dined at a local restaurant where the trees above us were filled with lemons. They were so ripe that we had to be careful not to have them fall on our heads. The brunch table is a memory from Søborg and Norway. The waffles are a cozy dish that reminds me of my boyfriend and his family.
